GEOMETRIC
DIMENSIONING
& TOLERANCING

NEXT UPCOMING EVENT:

June 30, 2026

9:00AM – 4:00PM   |   Concord, NH

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course provides an introduction to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), including an overview of geometric tolerances, their applications, and methods for inspection to GD&T requirements. Instruction is based on the ASME Y14.5, Y14.5.1, and Y14.43 standards.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

Employees with a current understanding of basic blueprint reading and basic math skills, including advanced operators, machinists and quality control staff. This class is not appropriate for experienced designers and design engineers, but would serve as a refresher for engineers or a good overview for newer engineers who have not had formal instruction in GD&T.

PROGRAM CONTENT:

Students will learn about geometric dimensioning and tolerancing by being taught an overview of geometric tolerances and their applications. They include:

  •  Advantages of GD&T
  •  ANSI Y14.5-2009 Standard
  •  Tools for measuring dimensions
  •  Symbols and Terms for GD&T
  •  Four Rules of GD&T
  •  Feature control frame
  •  Reference frame
  •  Datum
  •  Order of precedence
  •  Material Conditions
  •  Straightness
  •  Flatness
  •  Circularity
  •  Cylindricity
  •  Parallelism
  •  Perpendicularity
  •  Angularity
  •  Position tolerances
